Houston, Portland: Also Awesome

I don’t know what to say. The audiences just keep showing up and enjoying themselves – you’d think I would start to expect that, but I am still pleasantly surprised every time it happens. Lots of singing in the Houston audience, perhaps owing to the presence of some a cappella singers, plus all the pirates (pirates love to sing). And last night in Portland’s Mission Theater was just awesome – beautiful place, fun crowd, etc. This tour has been so consistently fun that it’s become incredibly boring to blog about. Sorry!

We’ve got a much needed night off tonight, and then we hit Triple Door in Seattle Sunday night – I hear the show is sold out already, so I expect it to be another night of enormous fun (for those of you who already bought tickets that is).

Houston Merch

Any of you industrious kids who want on the guest list tonight in exchange for working the merch table let me know. Halp!

Too Much Chuy’s

Remind me not to eat 10 pounds of Tex-Mex at 4 in the afternoon – my belly was so big I could barely hold the guitar in front of me. I had a really great time at Club Dada – in spite of the online ticket problems there was still a pretty big crowd, and in what has suspiciously started to look like a pattern here in Texas, they were also very kind and fun. Thank you all for another really great show.

Joel gave me a copy of this comic, which is running today – another carabiner in the rock face of popular culture for old JoCo. I very much like the title “Zombie Fighting Troubadour.” Thanks Joel!

Tonight: Houston!

Hey, Texans!

I forgot to mention at the Austin show that Stephen Austin went to my high school – the founder of Texas, not the bionic man. Thanks for a great show everyone, especially the members of the Robot Group who brought the amazing robot spin art machine that plays JoCo music. Check out robospinart.com and you’ll see what I mean.

I made the horrible mistake of scheduling morning television in Dallas the morning after a show in Austin, so I’m a bit short on sleep. That doesn’t mean I’m not fully capabale of rocking off every sock in Dallas tonight at Club Dada. Just be ready, that’s all I’m saying.
