ParticipantQ1: Is it something that can be measured?
A: Not in a “hard science” sort of wayQ2: Is it an inanimate object?
A: Yes.ETA: Inanimate: yes, Object: not in a traditional sense.
Q3: Can we stop doing super-hard concept ones? >.<
A: NoQ4: Is it in my favorite songs list?
A: NoQ5: Is it mentioned in the chorus of the song?
A: NoQ6 (really 5): Can it be experienced by, uh, "non-sapient" animals (I mean, non-humans that aren't marine life in JoCo songs like giant squids and seahorses)?

ParticipantQ4: Is it in one of your top 5 songs posted in the Favorite Songs List thread?
http://www.jonathancoulton.com/forums/comments.php?DiscussionID=453&page=2#Item_17“I have added “Drinking With You” because it captures that sweet tension in the beginning of a relationship. “Creepy Doll” is one that my son plays on orchestra bells (he is a great percussionist) and it reminds me of a Bach Fugue Motif. “The Future Soon” is not humorous to me. As with many JoCo songs, I hear the insecurities of teenage angst and the creative ponderings of the Wonder Bread Years (I am REALLY dating myself) Code Monkey and Skullcrusher Mountain are exquisite both musically and lyrically.”

ParticipantGood question Lex 🙂 Holy crap, “decisions” was tough!
Anyway….
Q5: Is it mentioned in the chorus of the song?
June 18, 2008 at 4:03 pm #43486Encubed
ParticipantIn my defense, I only picked it because it’s one of my favoritest songs, and it’s not really a predominant theme in any other song.

ParticipantQ6 (really 5): Can it be experienced by, uh, “non-sapient” animals (I mean, non-humans that aren’t marine life in JoCo songs like giant squids and seahorses)?
(Encubed: Which other songs do decisions appear in?)

Q: Can we stop doing super-hard concept ones? >.<
A: NoQ3: Is it in my favorite songs list? ETA: (It is not in "Drinking With You", "Creepy Doll", "Future Soon", "Code Monkey", or "Skullcrusher Mountain."

A: NoQ5: Can it be experienced by, uh, "non-sapient" animals (I mean, non-humans that aren't marine life in JoCo songs like giant squids and seahorses)?
A: No
Q6: Are we correct in assuming that this something is only featured in 1 song?
A: Yes. In fact, I would be shocked if it was found in another. And for after the next question is asked:
Q7: Does the title of the CD with this song include a number (One, Two, Three, Four)?
A: NoQ 8: On the music page, is the song in question a free song?
A: Unfortunately, I cannot answer this. For some reason, not only can I not see these icons, I cannot purchase from this page. I can only play the music. Is there another place I can see this?A: YES – It is FREE! (and I paid $$$$ for this piece of . . . music?)
Q9: Is the thing in a song listed under Other Experiments?
A: YesJune 18, 2008 at 7:26 pm #43508Dr. Perry Cox
ParticipantQ7(Or should it be 6?): Are we correct in assuming that this something is only featured in 1 song?
And for after the next question is asked:
Q9(Or 8, depending): Does the title of the CD with this song include a number (One, Two, Three, Four)?
Sorry for asking 2 questions at once (Though the 2nd shouldn’t be answered until my first one is), but my first question was more of a question to show my dissatisfaction at Encubed for doing that “more than one song” bit.

ParticipantBry: Among others, Skullcrusher Mountain (girl has to make a decision – the singer or the wolves), Mr. Fancy Pants (they choose you as the winner), Pull the String (last verse – you should just come out with it because eventually it will catch up to you). So, not a predominant theme in other songs but it IS referenced, which is what one of the questions asked.
Dr. Cox – was it really THAT hard? You guys got it in the end, largely following the same methodology you did for the other questions. Even though I’d have thought the nature of the questions asking about a ‘concept’ would have changed, it didn’t and you still found the answer.

ParticipantAsk away people. You have about 30 minutes until the night time fairy does a fly-by then it’s lights out.

A: Unfortunately, I cannot answer this. For some reason, not only can I not see these icons, I cannot purchase from this page. I can only play the music. Is there another place I can see this?ETA: Wait – I’ll be right back – I am going to go check on another computer . . .
A: YES – It is FREE! (and I paid $$$$ for this piece of . . . music?)

ParticipantOkay…. looking at the non-TAW free songs, minus Skullcrusher, minus Soterios Johnson demo, looks like we’re down to:
Washy Ad Jeffy
That Spells DNA
Mandelbrot Set
Kenesaw Mountain Landis
Ikea
Bills, Bills, Bills (Destiny’s Child cover)
Bacteria
Gambler’s Prayer (Demo)
Camp Bachelor Alma Mater(and I paid $$$$ for this piece of . . . music?)
This makes me think it may be a song that LaDeDa is not fond of. For whatever it’s worth…..
