For those of you who do not read JeffM’s blog and incase he does not have time to pop in here (which I would expect to be the case), he has announced on his blog that he will be pulling out of Song Fu #2. This is due to the fact he can not write and record a song by the deadline. For full details read his blog post.

The Bad News:
I was hoping that before I got on a plane to Taiwan, the next challenge of the Masters of Song Fu would have been posted and I could knock something out. Alas, I got off a plane half way around the world to discover the new challenge and it’s due date… (the day I get home). I have no musical instruments with me, no recording equipment, and no time. And frankly, even if I did happen to have a guitar and a mic, there is no way I would lock myself away to record music during the first days of meeting my new little girl [A Taiwanese girl JeffM is adopting – BenS]. So… I must withdraw myself from the latest installment of MoSF.
I plan to enter MoSF #3 when the time comes and I also have some other projects in the works, so please keep checking back. Good luck to the remaining challengers (and masters). May the best Fu win!

I logged on to let everyone know what was going on, but BenS beat me to it. (thanks BenS!) I just wanted to thank everyone for the amazing support and well wishes I have received from everyone in these forums. It really does mean a lot.

I think the rule around here is that if you have a new daughter you have to quit your job and start writing music full-time. 😀

I was wondering if his latest Twitter post means he’s given up the Song Fu thang??
“Unable to work, I’m calling it….”Just the use of, “I’m calling it…” that struck me.
I would guess that he meant calling it a day…stop working…. but using what Dr’s say when someone dies…. my interpretation.

P.P.S. Jeff wrote a beautiful song to his adoptive daughter that you can download on his website (http://www.jeffmacdougall.com/ – look for the links on the right, it’s called Song for Lucy) and can donate an optional amount too! I plan to do this soon!
First off, congratulations to Jeff M and his little girl. Little things make the world a better place, but this is hardly a little thing for either of you.
Now back to me. 🙂 I have what I consider a rudimentary complete first pass at my lyrics, and other than pecking at better words and such, I’ve gone as far as I can go on my own. I’m looking for someone who either wants to give a bit of back and forth on the lyrics, or perhaps go so far as to find someone who may want to actually try to set them to a tune? You only have 5 days instead of 7, but hey .. finished lyrics! I’m curious to see what someone could do with it, and of course would love to hear my lyrics actually you know … sung. 🙂
