ParticipantGuys, your enthusiasm has borked the sign up system. We have to fix it, and it’s midnight on a Friday, and poor Scarface is speeding down a highway working from a phone that is almost out of batteries. I’d like to delay this launch until we can fix the problem and get it right. So we’re going to relaunch this signup (with a new feature: “functionality”) this Tuesday at 9 PM. We’ve set aside a mess of these things specifically for our group, so you don’t need to worry that the Snorks are going to steal them.
My sincerest apologies, I know how frustrating it is. It’s been a bad week for signing up on websites, hasn’t it? This one was our fault, and we’ll fix it. If your F5 key is broken, let me know and I will send you a new one. Also the offer for anyone to punch me in the nuts still stands. What a freaking day.-jocoJanuary 18, 2013 at 11:49 pm #91826Antijen
ParticipantThanks, @JoCo.
Hope you (and Scarface) manage to enjoy the weekend a little, despite all the craptacular fun you’re having this week.
Bring on Tiki Tuesday.

GrimoireParticipantAh well, at least I can head home from work now! Thanks for the update, and we’ll go again on Tuesday!

villiciousParticipant@JoCo Could you please give us a heads up of how the relaunch on Tuesday affects those of us that got a “submission received” message? (I’m really of two minds about it, since on the one hand, the whole thing kind of fell apart on a bunch of levels in a way that was frustrating to everyone, but on the other hand, the few of us who got through were refreshing for an hour+ along with everybody else and thought we had things squared away.)
I know there are at least two Sea Monkeys besides me who got confirmations that we had submitted successfully before it fell apart, and if nothing else we’d like to know what we should plan to do.

glenraParticipantFair enough! Onwards and upwards! See you all on Tuesday! 🙂
(*my* day was actually freaking amazing in the other direction – today I got my first song on Dr. Demento! Nothing can bring me down from that. Which makes me wonder how to make “Won’t go down today” about the new server on Tuesday… 🙂 )
Thanks to @JoCo and the gang for all your hard work,January 19, 2013 at 12:05 am #91831
SimalotParticipantHome Office,
Will those of us who got the confirmation notices have to rebook?

BrettGlassParticipant@Glenra – Mazel tov! I was on one recording played on Dr. D many years ago. Want to do more.

ParticipantDear Home Office,
If it matters at all, I think those who got through should be able to keep their bookings… some SeaMonkey success if better than no SeaMonkey success! I’ll see the rest of you Tuesday night! <3
Congratulations @glenra !

SusParticipantStep 1: Wake up
Step 2: Check cabana thread
Step 3: ???
Step 4: WANT PIZZAJanuary 19, 2013 at 8:28 am #91850
BrerScientistParticipant@JoCo and the rest of The Powers That Be. Given the high demand and the system problems, how about changing from a first-come first-served system to a lottery. Give us SeaMonkeys a week to express interest (maybe giving a first, second, and third choice), and then pick randomly from that group until you run out of either cabanas of SeaMonkeys. This should be 1) more fair to people who are not available at a certain time, 2) be more far to out international Monkey, 3) be easier on your servers since everyone isn’t hitting the server at one time.
I also agree with @Chaosdreamer, anyone who did get through should get to keep their booking.January 19, 2013 at 8:33 am #91851
nperkinsParticipantI would much rather have a first come first served system. Lottery systems bum -everyone- out. The cabanas hold up to six people. The odds of every member of your group being unavailable should be minimized by that. And if you are all going to be unavailable, ask a friend to do it for you. All you need is two clicks and a booking code.
As for those that got through, since it was First Come First Served and the errors were server side, I feel those that got through were actually first and should keep their bookings. Full disclosure, I am biased because I am in a group that got through.

AngelasticParticipantI hit F5 a whole lot and keyboard is now so dim that it could be in a haggunennon space ship. No anchovies please; apart from that one Futurama episode, I’ve only ever heard of them in the phrase ‘hold the anchovies’ so I assume the very purpose of their existence is to be excluded from pizzas.
Okay, I think that’s this crazy thread caught up with. I know we pride ourselves on being able to DOS any server whenever something JoCo-related is up for grabs, but I didn’t expect it to happen for cabanas. I don’t particularly want one myself, and how could anyone possibly want anything different from what I want? 😉 Yes! We have no cabanas.January 19, 2013 at 9:28 am #91860
bethbnyParticipantMy own unsolicited comment: I think the wait list option should come up after the amenities are full. As in, you get through, get a message that says – sold out, would you like to join the wait list?

ParticipantI feel kind of silly that I got as frustrated as I did over something as simple as a clamshell. It’s half of one day on an awesome week-long vacation. Sometimes I need to remind myself that everything’s going to be okay. 🙂
