ParticipantIs there Currently a question and answer thread on the forums, for random questions that people are looking for an answer?
(delete this if it's not needed please bry.)So, my first question is, can you network a mac and a xp machine, or for the more non-computer people does anyone know how to make icecream?
I've tried a few times to no avail
(ice cream that is..)March 18, 2008 at 6:06 pm #30260muckalarkuary
ParticipantI have no answers for you, pyro… Sorry. But I do have a question.
I’m driving from California to Missouri starting Monday. I’ll be taking the 40 through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas… to Oklahoma City, and then driving up to Springfield, MO.
Is there anyone here who has driven that route and knows of some cheap eats along the way that are not fast food places? Also, any good hotels you’ve stayed at? Finally, we’re spending an extra night in Tulsa, OK for fun. Can anyone recommend stuff to do/places to eat? Thanks.

mtgordonParticipantYeah, I’m using Samba to share files between my Mac and my PC. Works fine.

Jeez, where to start? I don’t mean with stuff to do or places to eat, I mean with mocking that decision. 😉
Seriously, you’re driving through beautiful, wonderful places like Arizona and New Mexico, and, er, places like West Texas, and you’re stopping in Tulsa-freaking-Oklahoma for fun?
I guess the pithy answer would’ve been, as far as stuff to do, you could, y’know, leave.
(Tulsa, of course, suffers from the same nominal affliction as the product Kulana that Borba’s mentioned before.)

Participant@Bry – My sister went to school in Tulsa. There are a few places we’d specifically like to go to while we’re there. I was just wondering if there was more to do.
I’ve seen Arizona. I’ve seen New Mexico. I’m not missing anything I haven’t already seen.

ParticipantAh. Serious answer, then: I don’t know. Sorry to have been rude — my excuse is that anyone born in the D/FW Metroplex has it ingrained in them to make fun of Oklahoma, at least until they end up going to school there.

ColleenkyParticipant@Mucka: I can’t help. It’s been about 17 years since I made that trip in reverse. It was on a Greyhound bus, so we didn’t stop anyplace fun at all. But I do want to wish you safe travels!

ParticipantHere’s a question for you. Do fish have wet dreams?
March 18, 2008 at 7:06 pm #30273
mtgordonParticipantAll of them, I suppose.

ParticipantThanks jinx. That site looks fantastic.
@ Bry: It’s cool. I’m a Californian, and therefore, used to being made fun of. 😛

Agreed…hell we make fun of people from Denton just cuz it’s close to oklahoma. What the hell do I know though, I’m originally from San Antonio and everyone north of Austin is a yankee to me.

Participantmy question…
I am looking for the name and author of a book I read a long time ago. There were some folks got transported to another universe, kind of a fantasy type world. Most of them were actors and I believe they figured out the culprit was a director they all worked for. At one point they started trying to gather themselves all up so they started a traveling show to go from town to town. They would do corny stuff and make earth references like, Asprin and see who in the town reacted. I remember there was also a clay that they made stuff out of that fired as hard as steel. they made swords and stuff.
This was a book I read back in jr. high, when i was going through half a dozen sci-fi and fantasy novels a week. It really made an impact on me though and I’ve used many of the ideas in D&D games since. I’d love to read the book again though.March 20, 2008 at 4:07 pm #30697
ColleenkyParticipant@rob: Unfortunately, I have no idea. Sorry!
@the group mind: What does one do with old, obsolete, worthless books? I have a box of outdated, useless elementary school general music text books – some with records. (Yes, those round, vinyl things.) I need to get rid of them, but both the book lover and the avid recycler in me refuse to throw them into the dumpster out back. Any suggestions, please?
