It just seems like somebody has a rather smelly and potentially frightening practical joke in mind, and poor Stella, exhausted from her journey, maybe bringing them all nice prezzies from Ibiza or Coney Island or Skegness or wherever the hell she’s been, is going to get a very unpleasant awakening very soon.

I re-uploaded my Stella recording, which I made in August 2006. Previously, I just looked on the ftp server and saw a file called Stella.mp3, but didn’t notice that it was 0 bytes. Now it should work. So, Colleenky and others, here’s a mostly-south of the equator accent (though I had been north of the equator for almost a year and a half at that point) I might re-do it later tonight (without listening to the first one) to find out whether I have an ‘International English’ accent yet. Though I doubt either of them will be a representative sample. I switch between rhotic and non-rhotic pronunciations randomly, and since I moved to Switzerland, my pronunciation of ‘data’ has been oscillating at a rate of roughly twice per sentence.
Right, now to listen to all yours…
Here‘s mine. I didn’t get around to recording at home last night; we had a birthday to celebrate (my mother-in-law’s) and ended up going out. There’s pink noise in the recording from the air conditioning equipment which is just above my cube. When I play this mp3 streaming from my web site, I get some distortion; when I play it back from a local file, I don’t. Maybe it’s just my browser plugin acting flaky, but if you get nasty, screechy distortion while listening to this streaming, there’s my proposed workaround.
If this obnoxious retro-html nonsense keeps up much longer, I’m going to need to demonstrate my greasemonkey-fu. 😉

in remotely-OT news, i dunno if my version of this would be interesting for anyone to hear, and anyway i enjoy pretending there's any ambiguity whatsoever to my gender on here. this fictional ambiguity would be utterly ablated by even the briefest clip of the sound of my voice.
If I knew your gender, I’d have forgotten it by now. (I still have to remind myself that Bry is male and muckalarkuary isn’t.)
