Agent Lex
ParticipantWe should, in all serious, have a “This Day in JoCo” page on the wiki.
You know what to do!
(also, if we get a lot of content, and if possible, I might one day code up a “this day in JoCo history” box on the main page)March 30, 2008 at 1:47 pm #31811Bry
Participantin all serious
I’ve edited my post to fix this typo, and I’m very tempted to edit Lex’s to complete the coverup. Instead I’ll work out my frustration and embarrassment on a hapless wiki page…
(Most of the content, I think, will be stolen from Mark’s posts above.)

ColleenkyParticipantA day late, but on Apr 9, 1928, Tom Lehrer (one of JoCo’s inspirations) was born. Happy 80th!!!
BTW, I recently came across videos of some of his performances from That Was The Week That Was (U.S.) in the 60s. w00t! (Also how I found out about his birthday.)

April 11, 2008 at 11:37 am #33277
mtgordonParticipantOops, a day late:
On April 10, 1794, Commodore Matthew Perry (recipient of a boat from Millard Fillmore) was born.
ETA: FWIW, I’m done collecting my set of noteworthy dates. I have 275 distinct events, though they’re not all on distinct days of the year; for example, I have two events queued up for tomorrow. I’ll add them all to the wiki when I get a chance, and I’ll post them in this thread as the days come around.

ParticipantMy uncle was Sugar Ray Robinsons sparring partner for a while and travelled around the world with him. My uncle was a pretty good boxer in his own right but his wife asked him to retire. His last fight, he fought the world champ to a draw.
