if it helps bring it around, he fucked us all by only playing these songs on the First of May.

I was just thinking today about how he played The Town Crotch at Jammin’ Java in VA last March (07). I haven’t ever heard of it being played live since.

you can actually find alot of Youtube vids of his lesser played songs/rarities in concert. He did “Make You Cry” once, and had Ian Schwartz on uke for BBW1

@Gina: That performance [of Town Crotch] is what turned me around on that song. I had avoided it due to the distasteful title, but hearing it in concert made me realize what he was saying in the song, and now I love it.

keeping in mind, it’s still quite ribald. but that never stopped a JoCo song from being good.

@Jinx: It was my first time seeing JoCo, and I’d only heard Code Monkey and Re: Your Brains before, and had gone mostly to see P&S. So I wasn’t sure what I thought about that song, or many of the others. I was kind of like – Huh. I liked the funny ones, but wasn’t sure at first about the more serious ones. Most of the songs have grown on me and I still have a little pile of them I’m not that interested in, but the variety is amazing and there’s always something to appreciate.

And if we’d had Encubed’s stats back then, we might have appreciated more readily the rarity value of some of the songs in his setlist that night!

Yeah, even though I hadn’t heard most of his songs, I can still remember a lot of what he played. I doubt very much I’d be able to come up with a set list from memory, but I remember: I’m Your Moon, Town Crotch, Tom Cruise Crazy, Goodnight Vienna (because we were in Vienna, VA), I Feel Fantastic. And of course Re: Your Brains, First of May, Code Monkey, Skullcrusher Mountain. Do you remember any more, Jinx?

I was so happy he sang IKEA that night. It was my second JoCoSho, and he hadn’t sung it at the first one I was at.

This link to the wiki page for that night shows the setlist that got posted on the forum in the week afterwards. And it matches what I remember. It was at around that time that people were posting setlists here on the forums. It was a big show for Paul & Storm too, because of the Da Vinci’s Notebook reunion thing that happened that night. Did you know that group enough to appreciate the reunion, Gina?

I knew the group, and I have a couple DVN’s cds even (but I wasn’t a rabid fan). And I quickly got the idea at the concert that this was indeed a rare treat. I had such a blast that night. It was really strange to me how Paul and Storm kept saying things and acting like we were all there for JoCo, and we couldn’t wait for them to leave, and they were torturing us by having a blast with their reunion and doing songs they hadn’t intended to, etc. I was blown away by P&S that night, and intrigued and confused by JoCo. It didn’t take long for it to all sink in, though. And now, I’m reduced to an obsessed, quivering mass of jello. I’m glad I was there for P&S the first night and fully appreciated them then. I always enjoy their show, but now, of course the highlight is JoCo. I don’t think I would have gone to 6 show in one year of just them, much as I love them.

Wait — six shows? in a year? What other cities did you go to, anyway?

Jammin’ Java was the first. Two weeks later, a daytime show at Ram’s Head Annapolis. I missed the Baltimore show a few days after that – I wanted to go but couldn’t. Then the Birchmere, then Ram’s Head again, then Sellersville PA, then Birchmere again. From March 07 to March 08.

Can’t wait for the next one either. I am sad I didn’t decide to go to NYC for that last show, it sounds like it was even more awesome than usual!

I took it upon myself to update the list, with all concerts currently on the Wiki. A few hours and a headache later, I determined that this was a bad idea.

    *Played twice at a show

    -Updated as of Cleveland 7/11/08

    A few notes:

-I said I included all shows on the Wiki, and I did. This includes ones with incomplete setlists.
-I did not put most cover songs on the list
-I can more or less guarantee inaccuracy. I made mistakes. I know I did, because I caught some. But since I made mistakes that I caught, I probably made mistakes that I didn’t catch. If someone else wants to verify my results, that would be a good idea. But a suggestion: Don’t try to do it all on the same day, and certainly not all at once.
-I think the list should be put on the Wiki, but I am inept in making Wiki pages that resemble Wiki pages. Help would be greatly appreciated.
–If it is put on the Wiki, be sure to include the date last updated. We wouldn’t want people to get excited because JoCo played Space Doggity in concert, they all update the Wiki, and suddenly it says that Space Doggity has been played 20 times in concert.

That’s all I’ve got. I think I’m going to disassociate myself with my computer for awhile.
