    @Hijammer (hi Doug!)

Hah, the one time when I’m NOT on your direct path (I’m in the Tampa area). 🙂
Not sure who or how many I’m going to be rooming with on JCCC3.  It makes a lot less financial sense this time to bunk up to 4 unless someone’s budget is very tight or you’re looking to get one of the largest 4-person suites.  The cost savings compared to the first two cruises is much less stark ($130-$300 difference per person between 2 occupancy vs. 4 occupancy, until you get to the OS and GS suite category).  Still a savings, but way less significant than the first two cruises, where you could almost slice your room cost in half with quad occupancy.

    Hi once and future monkeys!

I am looking for a roommate, much like everyone else posting in this thread.  Must be something in the air…
    I’m a 30-year old male, non-smoker.
I’d prefer to be in a L or K room, but could be persuaded to go with another selection as long as things don’t get too expensive (I think a G might be my pricing limit).  In the same vein, I’d like to room with one other person but am flexible.
If my JCCC2 experience is any indication, I probably won’t spend too much time in the room other than when I’m asleep.
If this sounds agreeable to you, or you have any further questions, send me a MSG.

@Hijammer and @nwbond are you folks on the Seamonkey manifest? I’m wondering (and maybe others are, as well) if we met on JCCC2.

@kate Yay!  Joel managed to find the energy to approve me for the manifest! Must be feeling better?

Wow, that approval process is quick!  I just asked this on Facebook, but I’ll ask it here too: how feasible is it to share rooms on the trip?  I’m trying to figure out if I’ll be able to attend (logistically speaking) before the refund deadline next week!  This would actually be my first cruise ever, not just my first JCCC, so I’m pretty clueless about the practical side of this sort of vacation 🙂

N.B. This is only true for applicants who accurately predict when your amiable moderators go online.

While I have not roomshared, I have heard that it is VERY easy AND FUN, @thecolintaylor.  If you are *really* interested, you can always browse last year’s thread.

@thecolintaylor – I was a first timer last year, and shared a room with 3 strangers.  I had a great time and am going back for more this year.  As far as the practical side of sharing a room goes, here are some thoughts:

    • There is so much to do on the ship (both JCCC related and generic cruise stuff) that most people don’t spend much time in the room.
    • Last year there was financial incentive to squeeze 4 people into a room.  This year there is still a savings, but not as much, so I suspect there will be more people looking for just a single cabinmate. (see this spreadsheet for $$ details)
    • I was seriously considering rooming with people I didn’t know at all again because it was fun, even though I actually know other Sea Monkeys now 🙂
    • You can pay for the room separately, as described in a snippet of the FAQ @Hijammer posted a little bit further up this page.  In addition, all charges you incur on the ship (alcohol, souvenirs, excursions, etc) all go to your own account, not a common room account.  So money matters aren’t much of a concern.

@jillwebb  I am still in need of a roommate and am interested in working out arrangements with you and who else would like to join us.  I promise I will not offer bacon to you.

    • I basically sleep through just about anything.
    • I am 38, 39 next week.  I live in Wilkes Barre, PA.
    • As a teacher these trips in the middle of the school year are not ideal, but I am able to work around it.
    • I have been a monkey since 2011 and am looking forward to 2013!  I am already excited and ready to go.
    • Never been one to make a mess while traveling.  Piles of laundry on the floor reminds me of high school trips and I really didn’t like it then either.
    • Don’t care about what kind of room arrangement is chosen but at least a window would be nice.

    What do you think Jill?
