I’m also interested in Harry Potter/universal or anything Disney. I should be coming in a few days early. No post for me, I’ll be leaving ASAP after cruise.

@BMMcManus  I would have to say that Universal Studios is at least a 2 day event as there are 2 parks.  I would suggest you figure out if you want to go to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure.  I have been many times.  It is not easy to visit both parks in one day.  You don’t want to rush it.

@stitchinthyme and I have gone to Universal and gotten through both parks in a day. It helps that we used to go there a lot and know exactly want we want to do. Also going on a weekday helps. We once went on a Thursday and it was empty. Creepy empty: we were often the only ones on the paths.

You can definitely get through both Universal parks in a day if you’re there on a non-crowded day and know what rides/attractions you want to do, but it can be a bit exhausting. Still, you know… roller coasters! Woohoo!

    On this topic:

    BUTTERBEER!!!
(Seriously, the stuff is great, and somehow tastes EXACTLY the way I’d hoped)
    That is all,

I’ve never tasted Universal’s butterbeer, but once made my own version for a Hallowe’en party.

Here’s an extremely interesting (to me, anyway) HuffPost article about how Universal’s butterbeer was developed. (And officially approved of by J.K. Rowling, which to my mind makes it the One True Butterbeer)

I agree about doing the VAB tour if it’s still available, though I’m pretty sure it was for a limited time. I did that last year and saw Atlantis sitting there ready to be transformed into an awesome exhibit. The Discover KSC tour is also pretty interesting, and I can also recommend the Astronaut Training Experience for those who can afford the $150. I’ll start uploading some of my videos of that in a week or so so you can see what you’re in for. IIRC the Star Trek Live thing was just finishing when I went there before JCCC1, and we didn’t get to it, but perhaps they do it for a short time every year.

I can also recommend getting a Fastpass at Universal, so you can do all the rides (twice, if you happen to be hanging out with a couple that is alternating baby-minding duties. I recommend bringing such a couple) in a day without waiting in queues, and getting there early for the great Harry Potter ride which the Fastpass doesn’t work for (we stayed at Hard Rock so could get into that exhibit an hour before the rest of the park opened.) And yes, butterbeer. Lots of butterbeer.
Maybe we could get a group of sea monkeys together for Lunch with an Astronaut. I’d be interested in the Cape Canaveral tour, since I haven’t done that one yet.
I want to do everything but I’ll have to figure out how much time I can spend there.

Hmmm. What do people think about the ATX team?

I may have to work to sell @stitchinthyme, but I think that may be worth it 🙂

XP Reading a RCI brochure, it looks like they may offer pre- and post-cruise packages for Universal Studios Orlando.

I would have loved to have my concept of butterbeer reviewed by J K  Rowling, but somehow I didn’t think I could get her attention. From the article, it sounds like I did make something similar to what Universal sells… except that I didn’t fake the head.

😮 Having done normal ATX with two other monkeys, I would join such a team to get it up to the minimum group size and give up my place if we went over whatever the maximum size is.

    More space monkeys=more fun.
ETA: ‘I Didn’t Fake the Head’ is my Zaphod Beeblebrox cover band.

You mean, like this Zaphod Beeblebrox cover band?

It is true that more space monkeys = more fun. I have it on very good authority.

Thanks to everyone who posted their preferences so far. This will help greatly with arranging fun at discount prices!

For those of you who have tried the Butterbeer at Universal, how sweet is it? I can’t usually stand super-sweet drinks so I’m not sure if I would recoil in sugary horror.
