ShouganaiParticipantThis sounds intriguing, but I am really new to this: is this something you could possibly come and go from throughout the day? Or is this more of a 'stay all day' kind of thing? I am hoping to do an excursion or two during the day, like the stingray adventure, and some snorkeling where there is some semblance of a reef.

Participanta butler, personal chef, and lifeguard
One individual, or three? This is an important question!

AngelasticParticipantI am tempted, even if the butler is a human, since I’ve done the other excursions that I was interested in there so my only plans for Half Moon Cay are getting my hair braided (new life goal: compare braiding services of various islands in the Caribbean) and actually swimming a bit, which I didn’t do last time. But then I realised that I could stay in the shade by a pool and a hot tub with an iPod and showers and people bringing me food all day on the boat, and that would be free instead of $100, and I wouldn’t feel obliged to get up early to make the most of it.
Still tempted, though. I know we’d agree on the music.
ETA: If we tip the butler, we can get him or her to wear a monkey mask, right?

In my experience in cruises, if you tip them enough, you can get them to do anything. I’m pretty sure the bartenders on the last JCCC were tipped so much more than normal that they followed us around.

AnneParticipantThe more I read, the more appealing this sounds. Dan and I are would definitely like to do this.

ParticipantI'm interested.

chicazulParticipantAt this rate you folks are going to need to ask about the Extra Person Surcharge!

hasselhoffordParticipantOr organize two oasises. Oasisi? Oasisum?

FYI, This is a great place to geocache. There are 4 regular caches and 1 virtual/earthcache. http://coord.info/map?ll=24.577644,-75.929772&z=14
So if we’re going to organize geocaching, this would be a prime spot – particularly for those new to the idea. It looks like we missed 1 last time, and I’m not sure we grabbed all the answers to the earthcache, either.
The cabana idea is nice, and I also have the same question as Shouganai – is this a stay the whole time or come and go as you please kind of thing?
June 7, 2011 at 2:06 pm #74181
AngelasticParticipantI’m definitely up for geocaching, especially if my sister comes with me (she geocaches a lot.)

GrimoireParticipantOne individual, or three? This is an important question!
Pretty sure all three. I think the chef is only there at lunch time though.
I also have the same question as Shouganai – is this a stay the whole time or come and go as you please kind of thing?
I don’t know for certain, but I suspect that you can come as go as you please. We might need to all show up at the same time, but I think once that has happened, we are free to move about as we see fit. I may contact HAL for specifics on this.
Or organize two oasises. Oasisi? Oasisum?
Oases. (had to look that one up) Not sure how many of these things they have. Maybe only one, maybe a dozen. They do list it as “limited”, but that doesn’t really help much. It may very well be that they are all booked by June 16, and this entire thread is moot. Hopefully not, as it looks like there is definitely enough people to get one!
June 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm #74183chayzette
ParticipantI believe there’s only one of the large oases (thanks for checking that!), and 8-10 smaller (1-4 person) ones. Add two more interested folks to your list.

villiciousParticipantOur old friends Insight Cruises have the Half Moon Cay map: http://www.insightcruises.com/pdf/Half_Moon_Cay.pdf
Showing one Oasis.
I could be interested in this thing.

ParticipantYeah, oases – like nemeses
. I am also intrigued.June 7, 2011 at 7:27 pm #74195
RandalSchwartzParticipantVery likely one large, and definitely 12 small.
