ParticipantOK I got a question and I can’t seem to find it anywhere, I’ve seen people quoting each other, and I have /tried/ to make the blockquote button work but for the life of me it doesn’t. So whats the trick?
(Offtopic but I’ve seriously never had this much trouble using a forum and I am very very familiar with forums and have been for many a year now.)

ParticipantPercephene, not sure what your problem is precisely, but have you tried highlighting the text and hitting blockquote, or else hitting blockquote with your cursor at the beginning of the quote and again at the end of the quote?
What your text should look like is this:
This is the text I'm quoting.
(Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with these forums. I’d be glad to help however I know how, but I know it’s frustrating to have to ask.)

Gosh darn it, I dunno why it never worked before. And no I wasn’t mucking up the tags 😉 I was a programming student not that long ago, and a long time self taught HTMLer!
Well, it works now and thats the main thing.
Oh you do help when I ask! Its just frustrating /having/ to ask. I’m just so used to BBCode I guess.

I hope you didn’t find me condescending, then! I like to think I can associate forum names to people reasonably well, but I never remember who’s technologically inclined and who’s not, unless they really make a point of it.
(As admin, I can see the source of anyone’s posts, so if ever anyone has any trouble with their posts, at worst, just point me at the post and I can look at what you’ve done.)

ParticipantHeh, sorry, I couldn’t help but point it out! Being the independant “girls can do anything boys can, but better” type of gal that I am, I tend not to ask for help until I’m well and truly stuck and have tried all the obvious answers, so I always get offended when people ask me things like “Is it plugged in?” “Does it have batteries” etc. Don’t mind me, remember I’m hormonal!
Thanks for the magic touch that seemed to make the button work for me finally! I recall trying at least three different ways of quoting, starting with the button and none of them worked so I gave up trying!

ParticipantCorollary: Boys can do a great number of things that girls can, but worse. Example: My usual response, which goes, “Of course I’ve plugged it in, what do you take me for, an — oops.” 😉 And you’re welcome!

Participantdon't forget the "format comments as" radio button. it's an important and easily overlooked part of the process.

ParticipantIs there a way to see all the posts a particular member has made?

This is surprisingly simple. Where the tabs are just below the Forum Title (“JoCo Forums”), hit Search. Then select Comment from the options below the search box. Now type the user name of the person you are looking for in the search box and put a colon directly after their name and search. For example to see all of Bry’s Comments you can Search “Bry:” and 72 pages of results will be returned with a total of 2155 posts. As of me posting this comment.
That is it, it is that simple.July 27, 2008 at 5:52 am #48609
Jon WhoParticipantNext thing then, how did you know how many pages/posts there were? Me doing it just gives a “next” page option…
July 27, 2008 at 6:42 am #48613BenS
ParticipantWell firstly I looked at his profile which gives a number of posts, divided that by 30 to get a rough number. Then I went to the second page by pressing next, looked at the URL, noticed it said:
Bold added by me. This says the page number, typed in 75 instead of 2 (which going by number of posts on his profile should have been number of pages). This returned no results so went down page by page until I found some. It says what posts are shown at the top of the results on each page, which gave me number of posts.July 27, 2008 at 6:48 am #48614

mtgordonParticipantYou’re all trying too hard. There’s a much easier way to find out how many comments someone has made. For example, as of this writing Jon Who has added 2540 comments. That URL is the same as the one that his name links to with each post.
July 27, 2008 at 9:14 am #48623BenS
Participant@mtgorden we are not trying to do that I established in what I said I looked at Bry’s profile to find out how many posts he had made. Some of his posts have been deleted though as there were 2229 in his profile and only 2155 when I viewed all his posts. The original question was after all how do you view all the posts someone has made not know how many were made.

Jon WhoParticipantI haven’t found anyone with more comments than me…But then, I’m only searching names I remember being here when I started…
