I missed out on most of the drama club (I still haven’t got around to watching that on YouTube) and the Scrabble game, but I guess neither of those things could have had all the sea monkeys in attendance. I also missed all the dance classes and the Rifftrax screening, many people missed out on the iPhone handbell choir, and most people missed the jam session. And of course, people missed out on entirely unscheduled things such as the Rubik’s cube solving, the uke(?) playing at the Scrabble game, the storming of the disco, and that time when everybody got naked. But this is inevitable when we have as many events (official and unofficial, planned and unplanned) as we do, and especially if we have as many events as have been requested here. But I think most of us went to all the events that were big enough to fit all of us, and we still had enough shared experience to feel like one big happy squall of sea monkeys. People only missed out on those because they were sleeping (I agree it would be nice not to have officially-scheduled events too late at night before morning events, although getting up earlyish on those days didn’t bother me too much because I was stupid enough to book even earlier excursions on the port days (ProTip: don’t do that.)) I suppose, if we work from the assumption that the entertainers are also somewhat human, we can assume that they will make sure they have enough time to sleep anyway, and try not to let us in on their ability to be in more than one place at a time.

I guess the best idea is to make sure the morning announcements are very clear and there’s an editable timetable somewhere obvious to all (whiteboard/paper thingy in the game room, I suppose, and our Status.net network or just a web page available on the internal network) so that when things are overlapping, people know exactly what they are and can make an informed choice about which things to go to. I think that was done fairly well last time; most of the things I missed, I’d forgotten about because I wasn’t as interested in them as I was in the events I did go to.
