I want to echo that a gentle official reminder to let other people have a chance at live band karaoke would be good. I got to do it last year and it was awesome (fantastic, even =D ). This year I went in determined not to sign up for anything, but then the sign up sheet wasn’t that full… so I signed up for just one song… then I felt guilty… then I was glad someone else got to do it. Any sort of even semi-official “please let new people do this” would have firmed my resolve. (And yes, I totally admit this was a mess of my own making and more willpower would have helped.)
I also love the idea of having multiple people share the stage so more people get to experience the awesome!
Other things:
I appear to be in the minority here, but I didn’t have any issues with late night events. That said, I recognize that as a late night person the morning things I missed were Shadow Cruise events and going on islands (bah, who needs sunlight?) rather than official events.
Overall, even though it was packed into 6 days, I liked the number of official events – I would NOT have wanted to cut back on them. I also missed official Hodgman and Wheaton performances, but understand the reasons.
I’m sorry to hear that I missed shadow concerts when maybe there was room in the Labyrinth to at least hear them. I heard through the grapevine that things were super crowded and it put me off from even trying. Oh well.
Loved hearing the less played things from JoCo. I am with whoever upthread wanted to hear My Beige Bear live.
And yes, OMG delicious Mystery Brewing Company beer. Why are you so far away from me? Whyyyyy?
Oh, and the food for the opening party seemed particularly fancy this year, which was kind of fun.
