Late to the party, but for what it’s worth, I’m with @paulandstorm [P] on this one — I treated the Pledge in the spirit I believed it to be intended, viz., a supposedly fun thing I’d never do myself. Like what seems like the majority of people, I landed on “no Internet, but Twit-arr and CruiseMonkey,” and at no point did I feel that @davidrees or any Brigadiers were impinging on my life choices.
That said, unlike @rangerrick and many others, I spent zero time contributing to the creation of Twit-arr or CruiseMonkey; I can totally see why you guys would find it frustrating to hear anyone try to discourage others from using the apps you worked hard to create (which are, as with any social network, more valuable to more people the more people are on it). If it’s any consolation to you, the Pledge did not deter me in any way from using, appreciating, and very much benefiting from Twit-arr and CruiseMonkey. Thank you all again for your work.
TL;DR I thought Wi-Fi Temperance was sorta silly (in multiple senses). Also, what Paul said.
ETA: Re: “First of May”, my (JoCo-ignorant) cabinmate listened to the original only after we reached dry land, and he claims to prefer the “hugging” lyric as less unsubtle and more clever. In other news, I’m going to need a new cabinmate.
