Was there really multiple rearrangings of fixed/open seating? I believe I recall they announced some rearranging once. I wonder if there may also have been issues of the wait staff sometimes not putting the right placards on the right tables. One of the nights, the staff put an Open Seating card on our assigned Fixed Seating table by mistake. It caused some already-seated monkeys to get relocated elsewhere by the head waiter (which we felt bad about, and I had suggested to the head waiter that she just seat us somewhere else that night rather than displace them, but she insisted that we had to have “our” table.)
But what you’re saying about the larger tables being harder to get over time was the same experience I had back on JCCC1. I think it’s just natural for people to group up over the week. I presume it’s not possible/practical for RCCL to restock the dining room with more larger tables and fewer smaller tables, but that would be really ideal for open seating I think.
