About the lines: Just think of how much you leveled up playing the line game!
Us … not so much of the leveling though …
while we stood in lines for the first few shows, we got over that super quickly (not without coming up with some fun ideas for next year though!) and opted to just show up after the mad rush had seated themselves. And we never had problems finding seats for five, the center front seats were full, but center left was often available, back center, or in the wings, and we only made the fatal “pole view” mistake once which was never to be made again (and easily avoidable if you pay attention for two seconds before the show starts.) I guess sure okay, if you feel you absolutely need those front seats and it’s worth standing and waiting for them, I totally get how annoying it is for people to not stand in lines and to get in front of you. The last line we stood in our comrades managed to skip the line (they couldn’t understand there was method and only saw madness) but they waited inside for those of us at the near end of line. Also – I wouldn’t trade successfully finding the end of the line outside Studio B that first show for anything. It was an amazing creation that only spoke to the remarkable line forming abilities of the Sea Monkey Hive Mind.
We were once tricked into being the first in line by being told the show began half an hour earlier and we were complimented by the lovely helper monkeys on following instructions and not being more than half an hour early and in fact being precisely half an hour early. We were confused and then spent the next 40 minutes at the Labyrinth at the empty bar and it was delightful.
I don’t know what I’m saying, I just slept for practically sixteen hours and am feeling a bit delirious in my recovery from all the not sleeping and over drinking I engaged in the week prior. And the fun. Let me say the fun too.
Oh, I will say that the acoustics in the Alhambra were impressive what with the sound carrying – as they should be in any well designed theater! My significant other and I are naturally loud speakers and sometimes even when we think we’re quiet, we’re not so much – I’m pretty sure everyone in the entire theater at one point could hear him ordering another drink, I could half a theater away. And another point when he showed up late and probably too drunk and didn’t know what show we were watching he immediately said “I’m bored! Why are we here again?” I’m still hoping everyone who could hear that assumed it must be a small child.
I will say more words later. Maybe I’ll go find a coffee. It seems harder now than it did two days ago.
