I think a problem with a “real” cert would be you’d have to get a cert for the FQDN of the server, but you’re not likely to get a certificate for an rccl.com subdomain (I’m guessing) so you’d have to get a cert for something public that someone controls the DNS of, but that would then require doing an external DNS lookup outside the RCCL network, which may trigger the ship’s network to divert you to the portal page for internet access.
