Re: “merch room/rental fee/etc.”: unfortunately, RCI doesn’t allow this sort of thing; all purchases must go through their store’s system. We wish it were different, but we don’t have much choice in the matter. This actually isn’t different from many performing venues, which also take a percentage of merch sales, whether or not they’re processing the actual sales. At least in this case, they’re handling the onboard selling for us. (You can charge your purchase to your room account)
In addition, such an arrangement could rapidly turn into a bit of a logistical nightmare for RCI, if they have to count in, process and count out several dozen different people’s merchandise. As such, we must keep the items being sold on board to those offered by the official performers.
All of this said, there is no objection to, for example, pointing people to one’s website where one’s music (or whatever) is for sale online.
