I also own Arkham and have played it quite a few time. One trap I’ve found with it is that mechanically it can handle up to 8 players, but in practice it bogs down a lot if you have more than 5. Turns start taking forever to get through and it’s generally not the most engaging game when it’s not your turn. Another is that this is furthered by the team-based nature of the game, in which honestly the best strategy to win (but not to have fun) is for the best most experienced player at the table to just direct what everybody does.
Generally on the cruise you’ll have a desire to try and support as many players as possible, but just forewarning that 8-player Arkham is not a particularly fun experience that drags on for a really long time.
