@origamislayer I’ve been looking at Squid. I’ve never used it, but it seems pretty straightforward.
I’m not sure what you mean by proxy everything to the local machine. I would imagine that we would only rewrite a URL that would match the Apple test page and serve our own copy of it. All other traffic we would leave as is. This would trick the iOS device into thinking that the device was fully connected to the Internet and would not drop connection. I don’t understand the hosts entry comment. I’m not a network admin, so the misunderstanding is probably on my end. 🙂
