I’e never understood where this 100,000 miles things came from. I come from a family with a strong farming background and all the machinery measures in work hours rather than miles as it is a far truer measure of the life of the engine although. Both tractors my grandad owned had several tens of thousands of work hours on the dial and there was no guarantee they were still on the first pass. ‘Course gramps was in the Royal Engineers in the North Africa conflict in WW2. It was his job to keep machinery going under difficult conditions often without the correct parts.
But looked after even a reasonable engine will run well into the hundreds of thousands. Excellent work chaps. Pig approves!
