Reply To: JCCC3 Pre- and Post-cruise Excursions
From my experience last year, I think some kind of ice breaker the night before would be worthwhile. Before JCCC2, there was a meeting room at the hotel with a few refreshments, and many of the people there seemed to feel awkward being thrown into a group of strangers, cold. I had the advantage of “knowing” some folks from this forum and/or from their blogs. But I didn’t see anyone I’d ever met in person (Paul, Storm, Joco, Marian, Liz, Nicole… also Molly and Scott, but very briefly) until I got to the boat. And most of the people I had previously met were official performers and/or organizers and didn’t have time to talk. Or were up there on Olympus where we Mere Mortals couldn’t sit with them at dinner. 😉 With more introductions, I could have eased into the cruise rather than having to go so strongly into “extrovert mode.”
