I just noticed that Evan (CEO and head coder of StatusNet) is complaining about having to use a Mac to update the iPhone app: http://evan.status.net/conversation/1406975#notice-1386263
This bodes well for an official update to the mobile clients! I will still look at getting it up and running myself, just in case.
