Cheating may be easy, but as far as I can tell, it’s the only way any skill comes into the game (unless someone is skilled enough to find a secret high-scoring move by looking at the code.)
I think we’re just supposed to enjoy the game, the voiceover (I feel like remixing that, maybe with some GlaDOS), the code, the nemesis-crushing in whatever way we feel like. If there are really rewards they’re unlikely to be based on raw score, since that’s so easy to manipulate and as far as I can tell, a novice cheater can give themselves just as high a score as an experienced cheater. But who knows, maybe there are things other than score that we can manipulate to get other weird bonuses. Such as asterisks, bragging rights, and pictures of Rick Springfield.
