@skyen I like your idea a lot – so much so that I could not stop thinking about it. I messed around with it a bit to make the rhyme scheme match the original A Talk With George a bit more closely (although there are still problems with too many syllables and/or incorrect emphasis on some of these lines).
There’s a bearded man standing by the table
In a wrinkled suit and clearly borrowed tie
The party’s kind of fun, but you’ve talked with everyone
So you listen when he sings about this guy
And he tells you he was raised to love some music
And monkeys, squids and hydrocarbon chains
And he knows a thing or two about the things that you should do
If zombies come and try to eat your brains
First recite all 700 hobo names
Spend some time on stage with Storm and Paul
You should take a cruise with Wheaton, Phirm and Roderick
So fun waves won’t bother you at all.
Get a band and play at all the PAXs
Make friends with Jerry H. and Mickie K.
And the nerds will chant your name, your life will never be the same
You won’t believe this luck has come your way
You should write a Thing a Week and start a meme or two
Share your work and show that you can make a dime
You’ll curse as you try to recall which words to sing
At the very least you’ll tweet some of the time
A&M will never care
It’s not so far from here to there
You just go
So enjoy yourself, do the things that matter
Cause there isn’t time and space to do it all
Love the things you try, drink a cocktail, skip the tie
Show a little grace if you should fall
Don’t live another day unless you make it count
There’s someone else that you’re supposed to be
Something deep inside of you that still wants out
And shame on you if you don’t set it free
