Reply To: PAX: Gaming Questions Answered by Gaming’s Greatest (Featuring JoCo)
Metroid Metal is not really my thing–they play metal covers of the songs from the Metroid games. Since I don’t like metal and don’t know any of the music from Metroid, it’s a little…hard for me to grasp. They are part of the reason JoCo plays with a band though! The story as I’ve heard it: they learned some of his songs, then asked if they could play as his backing band at PAX, assuring JoCo that he wouldn’t have to do anything differently…and the rest is history.
This PAX I actually met Danimal, and he is just as cool as everyone always says (people who have hung out with Metroid Metal can’t say enough about what great people they are.) Before Jonathan’s set at Prime 2011, they played a “tribute video” made by Danimal. Metroid Metal are also fun at the PAX Musical Guest panels, which the PAX Unofficial DVD folks (calling @MJPM) can probably track down for you.
