Nice piano work. As a pianist myself, I’ll offer a few comments:
I like your renditions of bass lines. The bass riff in the verse of You Ruined Everything sounds great, partly because I like your piano sound especially in the lower notes. Are we hearing the audio from your keyboard, or are you using a soft piano? It sounds a bit like Truepianos, but not quite.
I’m always anxious to hear how you interpret some of the less obvious melodies. Often, as in the “Oo-ooh child” line in First of May, you interpret the melodies somewhat differently from I probably would on the piano. What’s your approach for tackling such melodies? Do you aim for the most “accurate” sound, or merely what sounds best on piano?
Lastly, what happened to the short riff that’s first played just after the line “If you need me” at the beginning of the Shop Vac chorus? In the original, the left electric guitar plays two eighth notes, a G# to a B, to transition to the B chord. The short riff is then repeated twice per chorus progression. I absolutely the way that little riff sets up the chord transition! (I’m just giving you a hard time–it’s obviously not an imperative riff, and your orchestration of Shop Vac, especially the harmony in the right hand, is great.)
I would request some other Coulton tunes to put in another medley, but maybe I should keep them to myself and do my own medley! 😉
