Re: a home on the web. Hmmm, good idea. I could provide a password-protected Wiki on my own site (I had to protect it after a series of spam attacks), but that ties it to me. I’d kind of prefer that it be open. I like the idea of having a bandcamp page. Does it cost anything? Is it possible to set one up where all the songs are free? (Do they require someone’s credit card info?)

UPDATE: just read their FAQ. It is free. Should I set up a page? Would someone like to do artwork for it?

We’d have to provide lossless originals. I could happily do that for Skullcrusher and Doll. [Just watch, because there is entertainment potential here — this will be the point at which I find out that the Logic 8 project with the corrupted MP3 from one year ago will crash Logic 9 in totally new and exciting ways, my mixer automation will break and disappear, half the audio tracks will be broken, and the mastering settings will have mysteriously vanished… if you listen carefully, you’ll be able to hear me sobbing and whacking my computer from where you are!]

We’ve have to get files for Monkey and Brains. I’m a little nonplussed at their assertion that they will do the translation into MP3 themselves. The projects I mixed are 24/96, but I wouldn’t trust them to do dithering, so I guess we’d want to provide 16/44.1. Actually it would be cool, I think, to provide alternate 24/96 lossless versions for those who can listen. Not all the source tracks were recorded at this higher resolution but some were, and the mix was done in 24/96.

The Google Group is pretty much defunct, I think? It should probably be either brought back to life or the posts archived and removed.

Glad you like the autoharp — that was a last-minute inspiration.

I’m gonna try another mix and change up and thin out the instruments and vocals again, when I get a chance. I’m starting to see Rob’s point about removing some of the theremin. I will also see about reducing the number of vox tracks. If I got a quiet afternoon I might try recording a vocal yet again — I think I could probably still do better. It would an excuse to practice singing, anyway…
