OK… I have a few hours free today…

– Handbells definitely don’t perfectly align. They are delayed slightly against the karaoke track. If I align the start, the first verse stays pretty close in alignment, but it gets off. You can hear this most noticeably on the beats for “one” in “where no one lives,” which is behind, then the first beat of “city” is ahead. It then drifts on and off: it’s pretty bad at the “just inside the door” phrase which feels sped up, while the final phrase seems more even. And if I align the start of the first verse, I have to insert some silence to make the start of the second verse align, and again for the third verse.

So, I’ll align these as best I can, and then see about aligning everything else, but if you get a chance the whole handbell part could use some chopping up and realigning.

Flute part and bass part: seems to have the same trouble against the start of the karaoke track, but it stays on the beat throughout once the start is aligned.

Mandolin is all over the place once start is aligned.

Theremin seems to match up against karaoke track precisely.

Now time to take my own medicine and listen to guitar and vox tracks… may have to do some re-recording today.

Urgh — just re-recorded a strummed guitar part with a METRONOME aligned to the karaoke track at 140, and I know I’m playing on the beat, but when I play back, the whole track is delayed. I have to drag it back a small fraction of a beat to align. Somehow the latency compensation in Logic is not working or something… may explain the tracks failing to align at the start (but not drifting off the beat).
