Something else that comes to mind since you mentioned autism… Mensa tends to have a pretty good sized segment of members with Ausperger’s syndrome or some more severe manifestation of autism. Test-taking can often be a strong suit for people with Ausperger’s or autism, and that’s one of many reasons why Mensa can be a haven for people with some form of that condition. I play in Scrabble tournaments regularly, and there’ve been many discussions about how and why competitive Scrabble is also a haven for people with some form of Ausperger’s or autism.
And hey, if this thread results in some more members for Mensa while we’re collaborating on a song, I’ll consider that a double win. 🙂
