I just got the CDs of my audio recording from the friend whose minidisc player I borrowed… she transferred them all on the weekend, a feat which I considered cakeworthy. Anyway, she said that there was a problem reading one of the minidiscs, and she could only copy it up to a certain point. I don’t know which one, since I didn’t label the discs (it’s going to be fun sorting them all out, I hope I can recognise which concert is which.) I guess half a minidisc broken out of 11 isn’t too bad.

So tonight I will get started with splitting the recordings into tracks and uploading them somewhere. Does anyone have a recommendation for Mac software to split a recording into different songs and save them as FLACs and/or mp3s? I guess I could probably do it with Audacity but I am not sure how tedious that would be compared with whatever else is out there. Also, what do people prefer… separating all the banter and song intros into separate tracks, or leaving a song intro attached to the song? Personally I prefer leaving them attached, since when I listen to songs in random order I don’t like getting an intro saying ‘this song is about what it’s like to write code for a living…’ and then hearing Bozo’s Lament. (Or, ‘this is a song about a doll that is creepy and it follows you around’ -> You Ruined Everything) Well, actually I do, but not for most other combinations.

My friend said that the recording is a bit loud and clipped and I should have adjusted the recording volume (which I couldn’t remember how to do until Birmingham) but she said that from what she heard, some of the recordings sounded really good anyway. She also said that sometimes you could hear people singing along. I have to admit that I was stupidly singing along myself at some points (as opposed to mouthing the words to appear like the groupie that I am without actually making any noise. It’s hard work), but quietly enough that I couldn’t hear myself at the time (with the exception of the last song or two in Birmingham, when I thought that the minidisc had stopped recording), so I hope that the microphone also didn’t hear me. I remember that somebody behind me at a few of the shows was singing quite loudly.

Anyway, it sounded alright to me when we listened to them in the car between concerts.

By the way, did anyone get a video of P&S’s Opening Band from London? Those were probably my most amusing panties (coin roll… hehehe.) 😀 Well, it’s debatable which was better out of that one and the bananostring.
