Reply To: Code Monkey Rock Band Pack
Really? Nothing in the title to indicate that this is all hypothetical or wishful thinking? You got me so excited and happy for a moment thinking this was real, then I clicked on the thread! Just as bad as a rickroll, if you ask me, except I’m sure it wasn’t done maliciously.
Anyways, onto the topic:
I wonder if it’s the Code Monkey pack – it may be more recognizable to a non-JoCo fan than calling it the Jonathan Coulton pack. Then again it’s better exposure for JoCo if it’s called the Jonathan Coulton pack as at least a bunch of people see his name and that he has his own pack. All the other artists’ packs are named after the singer, why should this be any different?
Songs I’d include (I agree on two of your choices):
Code Monkey – it’s proven itself to be the gateway song to many JoCo fans, is catchy and has an instant appeal.
I Feel Fantastic – I’ll have to re-listen to see if it has a worthwhile bass part, but this is a really fun and peppy song, one of my absolute JoCo favorites. Not sure if I’d profile a song about a junkie as a ‘Code Monkey’ song, but it’s certainly at least slightly geeky..
I wouldn’t put in Shop Vac because even though it’s a fun song I don’t think it speaks as much to the Rock Band audience as some of JoCo’s other songs. Plus I would prefer:
The Future Soon – my favorite JoCo song. Also appealing to Code Monkeys, if that’s what the pack is to be called.
