I saw you Scarface, but couldn’t get your attention. I did have the pleasure of sitting next to and enjoying the show with the lovely TheDoifter and the TheSpouse, where we debated which had the stronger potential to be a euphamism: “Wolfed down my slice” or “Getting a Swedish Passport”. I think it’s no contest, personally 😀

Two words: NEW! SONG!

I chose not to record, because I saw folks with better equipment than I have, and because the moderator indicated that the entire event should eventually be on B&N.com, so hopefully that includes Jonathan’s opening set, which was done in part because Mr. Hodgman was running late from a taping of The Daily Show. IKEA, The Future Soon, Baby Got Back, Tom Cruise Crazy, Skullcrusher Mountain, Re Your Brains. Then when John showed up, an UPDATED version of “Sweet Information” with the new chorus of “He sells COMPUTERS! Buy his COMPUTERS!”, which resulted in some classic John/Jonathan back and forth. Hodgman read the bulk of the opening chapter, which is about the presidential election, which led to Jonathan doing “The Presidents”. Then, because apparently my lot in life is to be the straight man for Minor Television Celebrities, John riffed off me going “Ooooh!” about part of one of his stories (When he signed my book, he wrote “Oooooh!”)

The end.

Oh wait, you want details about the new song, dontcha~ The song is “Battle Galactica”, and is about the inevitable exploration of sexual tension between man and robot. Basically, the plot of the show :p The incorrectly worded title is intentional, as it relates to an anecdote John also read out of MORE INFORMATION THAN YOU REQUIRE. I really hope it shows up on B&N.com soon, else you’ll all probably shall want to kill me for not recording it.

Oh and the new book is also a “Fact a Day” calendar, which John demonstrated by reading the first daily fact (“October 21: 2008, New York City: This book is officially published”) by ripping out the first page with this fact. He later gave that copy to a volunteer. 😀
