No, but seriously. I’m an adult. I don’t need to be “in” with anybody if I don’t want to. It surprises me though that I still have those latent feelings of desiring to be included in a group, feelings that should have been worked through many, many moons ago.
The key, I think, is not needing external validation, or at least, convincing yourself that you don’t need it. As soon as you feel like you need the external validation, that’s when you set yourself up to be disappointed if you don’t get it.
