OK, even speaking as someone who doesn’t eat lobster, I have to say that sitting in the car in protest for several hours is just puerile. In that situation, and I’ve been in similar situations, I’ve made myself content with side dishes. Dinner rolls, sans lard shortening? Mashed potatoes, sans bacon or gravy? Green beans? OK, I’m set. If none of the food was satisfactory, I’d still sit at the table and hold conversation, apologizing for any perceived offense against the host. If I were very hungry, and I were that picky, I’d probably have had the foresight to bring enough of my own food to get by. An apple, an orange, a banana. Sitting in the car is the behavior of a spoiled child, and as a parent of a toddler, I strongly believe that, when dealing with spoiled children, it’s sometimes necessary to be a dick.
