Here’s another idea for a feedback mechanism for song ideas from fans — you know how Wordle builds word clouds, with words that occur more frequently in the text being displayed larger in the resulting diagram? If you had fans enter words they were interested in, and you got enough of them, you could use a Wordle diagram to spark ideas. Maybe it wouldn’t normally occur to you that the words “pleasant” and “newspaper” and “drilling” could go together, but looking at them in the diagram, perhaps a connection would be sparked in your mind that could lead to a wonderful song about an autistic newspaper delivery boy who’s drilling for love in his backyard (or something. you get the idea). The point is that the ideas originate from the fans, although you still get enough of a remove from their direct requests to allow the creative process to take place.
