I could afford an iPhone, and I love my Mac, and wouldn’t mind having it in my pocket all the time, but I just can’t justify buying an iPhone, because it would be redundant. I have a phone (though I often forget to charge it or bring it with me), I have an iPod (and there’s no way I could use an iPhone as an iPod, I have more than 40GB of music and podcasts, and my iPod is always attached to my belt, most of the time I control it by touch without looking at it) I have a Mac, technically I have an Apple PDA (Newton MessagePad 110 and 130, though I don’t use them much these days) I have a camera which I always have with me, and I don’t strictly need all the other stuff (well, alright, I don’t strictly need any of the things I’ve mentioned either. Mostly I need clean water and food, or at least Mountain Dew and Fritos), plus it would be an ongoing expense since I’d have to have a contract rather than a prepay. But it would ensure that I always have my phone with me.

I would like to be able to justify buying an iPhone, I really would…
