I’m apathetic toward fancy cellphones, and cellphones in general. I often forget mine. I also don’t think websites should use more technology than is necessary to make their content easily accessible. So many website have bells and whistles which only serve to make the content inaccessible to people not using the browser the site was developed for, and don’t have any practical value for the people who do use that browser.
Also, I don’t like waste, so I’m never in a hurry to throw away my stuff to get the latest update. I get a new computer roughly every four or five years, whenever the old one is broken, stolen (well, that one was only 18 months old), or unable to do something I need to do, and then it’s a real excitement to discover how much things have changed. Perhaps I’m just not used to being able to afford to buy new stuff more frequently, but it seems a shame to waste a perfectly good computer/iPod/whatever. I haven’t yet thought of a good reason to have more than one working computer (not counting the Newton collection and whatever other historic old thing I pick up) when I only have two hands and one meatware brain.
