Reply To: A Lament for Bozo
To me, “Make You Cry” is a soft rock song with an unexpected twist: “I”ll eventually win your heart… after which I will break it.” It subverts the paradigm.
To me, “Bozo’s Lament” is about lost dignity. It’s about a clown, but it could just as easily be about anyone who is paid to lose their dignity, however they perceive it. It’s not just that the lion tamer gets all the girls; the lion tamer also gets to keep his dignity. Maybe Bozo could quit clowning and get a job running the pretzel store at Buckingham Mall or working as a code monkey?
Can we hope that it’s getting harder for JoCo to write songs about job dissatisfaction? 😉
