i don’t really feel like most p&s songs are quite that puerile.
Maybe not most, but the fact that Paul also wrote “My Enormous Penis” for DaVinci’s Notebook doesn’t help. 🙂 This was close, but in the end I’d say JoCo captured the way P&S perform, even if he exaggerated the dick and fart jokes. “Live” is touching especially near the end (love the last verse), but there’s no way could I be convinced JoCo wrote it. The lyrics, while containing all the themes appropriate to a JoCo song, aren’t evenly JoCo-ish in style. There’s an elegance to the way JoCo reveals especially geeky or disturbing things in his “misunderstood villain/asshole” lyrics–almost understated, typically specific detail by detail as the song progresses. It’s a slower build. Here P&S sometimes sound like they’re summarizing, especially in the first verse and the bridge.
