Definitely. For me, it stings less when I lose to someone (or thing) that is genuinely better rather than when I feel something other than quality was used as a criterion. I just wonder if this guy believes that the best song won (even though he’s disappointed it wasn’t his), or if he thinks that his beautiful composition lost a popularity contest.
