Reply To: How did you discover JoCo?
I posted this in another topic when I first joined, but I can’t remember where, so I’ll just re-type it.
It was sometime last summer when I first heard him. I played Kingdom of Loathing, and I frequented the /games channel of chat. That chat channel is so expansive and popular that it has it’s own online radio station. It was on there that I first heard Re Your Brains. The first time, I didn’t really listen to it, but after they had played it a few times, I found myself thinking “Who is this guy, and why do they keep playing this song?”
Well, some months later- It was probably around October, one of the DJs played I Feel Fantastic. At first I didn’t associate one with the other. That didn’t happen until the next time Re Your Brains was played. When I realized that they were from the same guy, I decided to dig a little deeper.
So I went to YouTube and eventually found Spiff’s video for Re Your Brains. I’ve never played WoW, so I didn’t really care much for it, but he used Mandelbrot Set for the credits on the video. Being a math nerd, that’s where I fell in love.
Though, for whatever reason, I didn’t try to listen to any other songs for awhile. I got those 3 (Re Your Brains, I Feel Fantastic and Mandelbrot Set) on my iPod, and didn’t try to listen to any other songs for a couple of months. I didn’t listen to any others until early to mid-January.
And yeah, that’s about it.
