So far most of you seem to be using iTunes… so what’s with all the counting? You can just type Coulton into the search box and look at the count at the bottom of the window.

Out of curiosity, why do folks continue to lease their music from iTunes, when they could own their mp3 from someplace like Amazon?

Buying from the iTunes Store is not leasing, as far as I know… I can keep the tracks for as long as I want, and burn them to a CD and rip them if I really want to remove the copy protection for some reason. Sometimes, if a song is available on iTunes but not as iTunes Plus, I’ll look around to see if I can get it elsewhere without the copy protection, but it usually isn’t possible. I tried downloading from Amazon, but their music downloads are only available in the US and perhaps Canada. I do buy digital music from other sites (Maple Music is one of the ones I’ve bought the most from, Zunior has a lot of stuff I want but they don’t like my credit card, so I had to content myself with their free stuff), it all depends on where the music I want is available. Perhaps a third or more of my music is free anyway, JoCo is not the only one to give away music. Still, I have 883 copy-protected songs, out of 1219 bought from iTunes (holy fruit salad! That would’ve been 1828.50 francs if I’d bought each one separately!), and a total of 7016.
