I own the TAW box set (ordered online) and WTMT (bought at a concert) on CD; I would like to buy Smoking Monkey, if he’s got them at the next concert I attend.
On MP3, I have
- several of the TAWs, from subscribing to the podcast (including the original, fiddle-free “Just as Long as Me”);
- all of The Aftermath, which I’ve been downloading as they are released (as well as You Oughta Know and Monkey Shines);
- “When I’m 25 or 64”, which I downloaded for free from the store (since it’s not on the TAW CD’s);
- all of OBOOCA, which I got from the PopSci website;
- the free songs from Smoking Monkey and Other Experiments (a year or more ago I used the last free downloads of an eMusic trial subscription to pick up DRM-free mp3s of Smoking Monkey, but the download failed, so I felt justified in filching them from the store. But the computer I used to do that has broken [karma] and I’ve lost all the data. Now I’m waiting until I get the CD);
- various Code Monkey remixes from the Quick Stop contest;
- rarities from awryone’s and Spiff’s websites (thanks, guys);
- lots and lots of live concert recordings;
- the karaoke track to Re Your Brains (for which I paid $1, for the Mandelbrot Set project).
I have no problem with people who haven’t paid for JoCo music, as long as they continue to feel indebted — I’m not a fan of people who are proud of how they’re “getting away with” something.
