Reply To: How did you discover JoCo?
I first heard Jonathan Coulton through pandora.com . I had set up a "They Might Be Giants" station, and it was playing songs that had similiarities. At the time, Pandora only had songs of his from his two earlier albums, Smoking Monkey and Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow (which I would like to hear JC tell the story behind sometime). They've since added songs from Thing A Week Volume 1. Anyway, I think the first one I heard was Mandlebrot Set. They also had Skullcrusher Mountain, Ikea, and I think Having A Party. After listening to that for a while, I decided to find out what I could about him, which lead me here. It was probably about 3/4 of the way through Thing A Week, and for a while I just listened to music and never even read his blog. Then I happened to go to his blog, and discover that he was friends with John Hodgman, whom I already knew from his appearances on The Daily Show. Now I read the blog every day, and I hope against hope that JC will one day come to Wisconsin so that I can see him in person.
