When I first heard JoCo, I had feelings of similarity to Ween. It's not so much, but there's a certain mad feel to both, and both put the pop format to excellent use.
Also, the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets might appeal to a number of geek fans. It's pop-punk fused with metal and the occasional psychedelic moments, with sci-fi and HP Lovecraft inspired lyrics: http://www.thickets.net/
I have an absolute love of Terry Pratchetts writing, his grasp of human nature, application of satire, and fondness for absurdities overwhelms me every time. He's also a bloody prolific bugger, and has innumerabel books available to be read and loved.
The cartoon Drawn Together is simply fun. It's demented, devious and unflinchingly in bad taste. Also delightfully intelligent at times.
