I defnitely think that your daily show song cameo is a very good start for attention, past just being Slashdotted. Have you considered quite possibly shameless self-promotion through standard Radio?
Also I don't know how serious you are with your Creative Commons Liscense, however, I do not believe that having a record deal and still keeping your beliefs to your CCL are quite synonymous with eachother, unless you had happened to find a RIAA independant Record Label.
The RIAA isn't even to fond of Artists giving rights to their OWN music away for free…
