UPDATE! HERE IS THE DEAL. We’ve got a small meeting room at the hotel. I don’t know the name of it, but I believe it’s the only meeting room, so it should be obvious. Therein will be our central point for congregations and snacks. If you want to bring things to share, feel free! Her Majesty Queen Aileen (emeritus) and Consort and I will be pitching in with some snack-type provisions, and also name tags, and possibly other fun things depending on what we get up to. Or what they get up to, since their flight is earlier than mine. Please bring your own beverage if you want one, as providing beverages would also mean we would need to provide cups and ice, and ice would necessitate coolers, and then what the hell would we do with the coolers is what I want to know.
Due to flight schedules, the things we’re bringing will be around evening-ish. Of course everybody is welcome to hang out and meet people and do things! But it’ll be a little later once us official unofficial organizers are actually there.The meeting room room will need to be shut down at 10 p.m. So, everyone is welcome to continue to hang out and play games and take advantage of the open spaces, but we’ll need to have everything out of the room and cleaned up and whatnot by 10. The pool area also closes at 11, so be mindful of that.Otherwise, this is a generally awesome free-for-all of Sea Monkey pre-cruise fun. Here are the rules!- Follow Wheaton’s Law.
- Follow any other rules given to us by the hotel, either by hotel staff or by @paulandstorm/the Home Office.
- Inside voices after 10 p.m.
- Don’t wreck the place.

In another thread, @paulandstorm let us know that Springhill Suites is willing to set aside a meeting space for BYOB, BYO-food, BYO-game, BYO-whatever-within-reason pre-cruise shindig for us Sea Monkeys. I’m very highly in favor of this idea, since one of the reasons I booked at Springhill Suites is to be near other Sea Monkeys.If you’re interested in joining us for such shenanigans, please leave a comment here! I’ll tally up a rough headcount and edit this first post with more news about when/where/whom/etc.

I’m very excited to meet all my Sea Monkey bretheren (and sister-en? Cistern?) Anyway, as I’m coming from CA, I’ll have to be there the night before anyway, so why not?EDIT: Booked my room! Checked Travelocity and even the cheap rates for nearby hotels weren’t appreciably less than our discount. I’m happy to pay a few dollars more to be right at the epicenter.
EDIT: Add Blue to the festivities list! We’re rooming together at the hotel as well as shipboard. Wheee!
You can count my wife and I (GroovyFrood) as definite maybes. We will likely be taking a flight that leaves at 11.55pm and arrives at 10:00am, so we will be quite tired. The spirit is willing, but the flesh may be weak.
I’m going to try to keep this updated with a tentative guest list (for easy head count estimates later) and games we can have on hand to play (I started by listing mine). I know there’s an official BoardGameGeek cruise game list somewhere, but since not everyone on the cruise will be at the hotel (and to avoid confusion between two BoardGameGeek lists) I’ll just update this the old fashioned way.
My wife and I will be flying in late that afternoon/evening, so a definite maybe for us as well. Though in a classic case of cart before horse, I have not yet booked the hotel.

I’ve got a room booked for 4 of us that night, so we will likely attend. Not sure how we’re getting there yet, and method of travel will dictate the choice of games I will bring. Probably some Deffiniates:
