Interview on The DL

By JoCo May 3, 2007

When I was at the Aspen Comedy Festival I met Sara Schaefer, the charming and funny host of “The DL” on AOL.com, and over cheeseburgers we bitched about all the stand-up comics. She was very kind to invite me to do an interview and play a couple of songs in their studio – which was, like, a real studio and everything. I’ve embedded the interview below, but you can also follow this link if you’d like to see the performances, which are not bad actually. I am very sensitive, as you will see when I look through the camera into your eyes…

Oooh... bitched about all the stand-up comics? Which ones?

*wants the gossip*

I've extracted the MP3's from the video for your listening pleasure. (They were already in mp3 format, so no lossy re-encoding was needed)

Oh my goodness, you're not kidding about the "look through the camera into your eyes" part! You've even got the "sympathetic head tilt" down. I can see the foolproof plan now:

"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
"I think so, Brain, but what if it isn't the First of May?"
"Exactly - we'll use JoCo's sympathetic soft-rocking to literally melt the knees of every man, woman, and child. They'll feel so loved and understood, no one will stop by as we try to take over the world..."
"NARF!"

I'm glad you quit writing software. Music suits you amazingly well...

Oh, and you do remind me of Loudon Wainwright III. A lot. :)
